Hello and Happy Monday!
I hope that everyone had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the extra day on Friday. Snow days are truly something to be thankful for with this crazy Michigan weather.
With this being my first 'update' email since after Christmas break, I do want to also say thank you again to all of the parents that helped to organize our Christmas party that we had in December, as well as those that donated something to our party. I sincerely appreciate all of your help and generosity!
Friday 1/16 (Part 1 of Math test) Despite the snow day on Friday, we are still going to be having part one of our adding and subtracting fractions test this Friday. Monday and Tuesday of this week we will be working on our last concept, adding and subtracting mixed numbers/improper fractions. Wednesday and Thursday will be spent reviewing for our test, and Friday morning both classes will be taking part one of the test. A paper copy of the test review will be sent home tomorrow and will be due in class on Wednesday to correct.
Other notes regarding math:
*Book It: Please continue to encourage your child to read at home! I cannot stress enough how important this is for your child's continued development as a reader and as a student. The Pizza Hut Book It reading challenge is a great way to motivate your child, because there is a reward at the end of the month if they have met their monthly goal. Something new this month is that students can also write a short book review on books that they read during the month of January, which they can turn in for 10 Class Dojo points.
Other important notes:
*For those that like to plan ahead, winter NWEA testing will begin next Friday 1/23 and will continue through Monday and Tuesday the following week (1/26 and 1/27). Please try to the best of your ability to not schedule any appointments/absences during this time.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Have a blessed week,
