Good evening 5th grade parents!
For those of you that I have not had the opportunity to meet yet, my name is Natalie D'Amico and this year I am your child's teacher. This is my first year here at St. Thomas Aquinas, and I cannot say this enough- I am thrilled to be here! I am so thankful that God has called me to join the STA staff.
Every Friday this year, I will be sending out an email that will briefly describe what happened in our class throughout the week. The contents of these emails will also be posted on the 'Our Classroom' page of our classroom website. The link for our classroom website is located at the end of this email underneath my name. Please note that this website is still in a somewhat 'under construction' stage! I was hired very late, so I have been focused on putting together our classroom and preparing for my students. The website will be finalized soon, however, and it will be a very helpful place to visit throughout the year.
This week in room 116, our 5th graders came prepared and excited to start school! We focused a great deal on beginning to build our classroom community and discussing expectations and procedures for the year. On the first day, we read the story 'First Day Jitters' and wrote a paragraph about how we were feeling that day. Throughout the week, we have also been working on a special project that you will be seeing outside of our classroom on Curriculum Night. On Wednesday, we brainstormed as a class what our ideal classroom would look like and created a class mission statement together (pictures of this activity are on our website!). Lastly, job applications went home today for our classroom jobs. These are to be returned on Monday.
Important date to remember:
*Thursday, September 4th: Curriculum Night 6-8pm
Thank you for all of your support so far this year! I am looking forward to working with you and your child.
